ReplyDelete1. The first fact I found is that a fine for not buckling up could easily be $127.50 or even $195 if its violating Child Restraint Devices laws.
2. Child safety laws were enacted to protect motorists from needless death and injury. Also to reduce taxpayer and health costs resulting from crashes.
3. All children that are 12 and under need to sit in the back seat.
My opinion on seat belts are that the laws are good, it's just the people that don't follow them that cause crashes and problems.
I am tall enough and weigh enough that I don't need a boosters seat while in a car.
I never knew it would cost so much for not wearing a seat belt!

ReplyDeleteOpinion: I think there should be seatbelt laws, firstly so people can stay safe, and secondly so that people in rear seats don't get themselves killed and then the driver has to take responsibility for their choice.
1. Iowa seat belt laws: A person convicted of violating the Safety Belts
and Safety Harnesses law is guilty of a misdemeanor, for a cost of at least $127.50.
2. Car seat information: Not all car seats fit in all vehicles.
3. State seat belt Laws: 33 states, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands have primary seat belt laws for front seat occupants.

Opinion: I believe that we should have seat belt laws, especially for younger and maybe even older people, but maybe there could be an age limit where you don't have to wear a seat belt anymore.
I think every state should have a seat belt law because you could die if you don't were a seat belt New Hampshire is stupid for not haveing a seat belt law.

My option on seat belt laws are not strict enough. It should not be a personal choice because it saves lives.
Air bags plus seat belts provide the greatest protection. Use a seat belt on every trip doesn't matter how short. Never seat a child in front of an air bag. Yes.

2. Also, any car made after 1966, must have seat belts and they must be worn.
3. Lastly, a ticket is usually at least around $120 if caught driving without wearing a seat belt.
I believe that it should still be a right whether to wear a seat belt or not. People have seen the effects and what happens to people in crashes that aren't wearing a seat belt. So they should have the choice, knowing it is putting themselves in danger.

I don't agree with the right to have or don't have a seatbelt(in most cases), because I'd rather get a fine for not wearing a seat belt, and be more safe when I start to wear it, than to crash and die because I didn't. -Trent W

I agree with the seat belt laws I think there just trying to keep us safe.

An interesting fact I found was that children should be in a booster seat until the age of 12. If you don't wear your seatbelt in Oregon and a couple other places you will have to pay $100. In some places, like Texas, could pay fines up to $200. Adults ages 18-34 are less likely to wear seat belts then 35 or older adults. My opinion on seat belt laws are there shouldn't be as high a fine as there is now. Seat belts should be required and people should wear them but many adults forget to put them on. I, Leah Hughett, weigh enough and tall enough that I do not require a booster seat when I drive/ride a car.
